Travel and Directions
Getting Here
South Shore Resort and Retreats is located at 2928 Middle Lake Road in Twin Lake, MI 49457, halfway up the west side of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. The driving distance from Chicago and Detroit is approximately 3.5 hours. Grand Rapids Airport (GRR) is about one hour away and offers direct flights from most major cities daily. Muskegon Airport (MKG) is about 20 minutes from the resort and now has multiple daily flights to and from Chicago O’Hare.
South Shore R&R is approximately 45 minutes from Grand Rapids, 35 minutes from Holland, 20 minutes from Muskegon, and about 2.5 hours from both Chicago and Detroit. The property sits on the shores of Twin Lake in Muskegon County, within easy reach of some of western Michigan’s most beloved destinations.
Western Michigan is packed with charm. You will find scenic trails, quaint small towns, farmers markets, wineries, and cozy coffee shops within a short drive. Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Saugatuck, Holland, and Muskegon State Park are all popular day trip destinations. We are happy to share our favorite local spots when you arrive.
Preparing for Your Visit
Your Stay
Pack for the season. In summer, bring your swimsuit, flip-flops, sunscreen, and a good book for the beach. In cooler months, cozy layers, hiking boots, and a favorite board game are perfect. We provide all the essentials including linens, towels, and kitchen basics so you can travel light.
Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, and there are grills outside for that classic lakeside cookout. The Lodge has a communal dining space and a full kitchen for larger groups. Retreat guests enjoy fresh, chef-prepared meals included as part of the retreat experience.
Yes, we have WiFi throughout the property. But we encourage you to unplug, step outside, and soak up the fresh air and good company Twin Lake has to offer.
We love furry friends, but at this time we ask that you leave them at home so everyone can enjoy a peaceful and allergy-friendly stay.
Yes. The property welcomes guests in all four seasons. Summer stays center on the lake, beach, and outdoor activities. Fall and winter are ideal for cozy lodge stays and hosted retreats. Spring is a beautiful and quiet time to visit before the summer season begins.

Relax on the private beach, go kayaking or paddleboarding, fish from the dock, play games, or gather around the fire pit for s’mores under the stars. The outdoor sauna and hot tub are available for all guests. Retreat guests also have access to yoga, spa services, and guided outdoor experiences as part of their programming.
All cabin guests have access to the private beach, outdoor sauna, hot tub, fire pits, kayaks, and paddleboards on Twin Lake regardless of which cabin they book. Linens, towels, and kitchen basics are provided in every cabin. WiFi is available throughout the property.
Yes. Between the beach, kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, games, and wide-open spaces on Twin Lake, there is plenty to keep kids happy and active. Just do not be surprised if they forget all about their screens.

Yes. All five cabins and the lodge can be reserved exclusively for your group, sleeping 52 or more guests across the property. Exclusive use is available for family reunions, corporate retreats, intimate weddings, and large group gatherings. Contact us to discuss options and pricing.
Yes. South Shore is a wonderful setting for family reunions, corporate retreats, wellness retreats, intimate weddings, and special gatherings. The lodge accommodates up to 13 guests for hosted retreat experiences. Contact us to learn more about event options and available dates.
South Shore R&R sleeps 52 or more guests across all five cabins and the main lodge. The Lodge alone sleeps up to 22 guests in 13 bedrooms. Individual cabin capacities range from 4 guests in the Ontario and Huron cabins to 12 guests in the Erie cabin.
